Climate Protection Campaign Races to Stop Global Warming
August 18, 2003 The Sonoma County Climate Protection Campaign participated in the Race to Stop Global Warming on August 17 in San Francisco. Five team members, wearing North Bay Climate Protection Team stickers, ran 8 kilometers (about 5 miles) as part of the benefit for the GreenHouse Network, joining several hundred runners from around the Bay Area. Randy Hayes of the Rainforest Action Network was Honorary Chair of the Race. Mike Sandler, Associate with the Campaign, organized the Team. Usually
Im depressed about the imminent destruction of our Earth due to
climate instability caused by mans burning of fossil fuels, but
after this run, I feel great! said Sandler. Solutions exist,
added Sandler, pointing out that all ten Sonoma County jurisdictions are
taking responsibility for their GHG emissions, as will be documented in
the forthcoming emissions inventory.
